Oral Surgical Procedures near Auburn, California

You probably think of a hospital when you hear oral surgery, but many dental procedures performed in a general dentist office are considered surgery. At North Auburn Dentistry, we offer oral surgery procedures like wisdom-teeth extraction, jaw-related surgeries, facial injury repair and more.

Our Oral Surgery Procedures

Wisdom Teeth Extraction

The wisdom teeth, or third molars, are the last set of teeth to develop. Sometimes when these teeth emerge from the gum line, the jaw is large enough to allow room for them. However, this is not the case most of the time. Usually, one or more of these third molars does not properly align or emerge from the gum line. It then becomes entrapped of impact. Impacted wisdom teeth cause swelling, pain and infection of gum tissue surrounding the wisdom teeth. We recommend that people with impacted wisdom teeth have them surgically removed before serious problems can arise.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a surgical option for tooth loss due to accident or infection. They are also an alternative to bridges and dentures. Implants are tooth root substitutes that are surgically anchored in place in the jawbone and work to stabilize the artificial teeth to which they're attached.

Jaw Problems

In some people, the upper and lower jaws fail to grow correctly. This creates difficulty with speaking, eating, swallowing and breathing. Some of these problems can be corrected with braces and orthodontic appliances, but serious problems require oral surgery to move all or part of the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both into a healthy, functional position.

Improve denture fit

If you're a first-time denture wearer, oral surgery can be done to correct jaw irregularities in order to make the dentures fit better. Oral surgery also helps long-term denture wearers because the supporting jaw bone can deteriorate over time, resulting in improperly fitting dentures.

TMJ disorders

When the TMJ, the small joint in front of the ear where the skull and lower jaw meet, is dysfunctional it causes headaches and facial pain. Patients with TMJ disorders can often be treated with oral medications, physical therapy and splints, but joint surgery is an option for advanced cases.

Other Conditions Treated by Oral Surgery

  • Facial injuries
  • Lesion removal and biopsy
  • Cleft lip and cleft palate repair
  • Facial infections
  • Snoring and sleep apnea

Dramatic Smile Makeovers

Of course the health of your teeth, gums, and jaw are important, but we understand that the esthetics, or the look of your teeth, are just as important. We offer cosmetic dental treatments to help you get that show-stopping smile you've been wanting.

Professional Teeth Whitening

Are your teeth somewhat yellow, dark, or stained? Do you wish you had a bright, white smile? Well, you can! During your visit to North Auburn Dentistry, you and Dr. Dever can discuss how white you would like your smile. Based on your goals, he can then recommend a personalized teeth whitening plan that will help you get a pearly white smile.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers can completely transform teeth that are chipped, cracked, widely spaced, or too discolored for traditional whitening. Veneers are thin sets of porcelain that Dr. Dever sculpts by hand and then places on the front of your tooth. Veneers can help you get a vibrant and natural-looking smile.

We also offer Lumineers® which frequently require minimal preparation and can usually be placed without the need for shots and drilling!
